| Jefa autopilot type AP-1&2 |
|
The Jefa AP autopilot is the answer to the request from the market for
an affordable and easy to operate stand alone autopilot. The development
has been inspired by many years of experience in the successful
production of Jefa autopilot drive units. Special attention was given to
an intuitive and user friendly control panel which is 100% water tight. The three
dimensional integral compass (also used in high end defense missiles)
ensures an extremely steady course also at high seas. The Jefa AP-1 autopilot is
suitable for tiller as well as wheel steered boats using an under deck
autopilot drive like the linear drive,
direct drive,
transmission drive,
sprocket drive and
compact drive. All these drive units
can have an integral rudder feedback unit, so no separate installation
is necessary. The Jefa AP-1 autopilot is suitable for boats
up to 45 foot. The continuous output on 12 volts is 7 Amps and the peak
output is 15 Amps. The Jefa AP-2 uses larger servo box components and
can be used for boats up to 80 foot with a continuous output of 20 Amps
and a peak of 40 Amps in 12/24 volts. Please click on the picture for a larger view. |

| Plug & play system: |
|
|
| The above layout shows the super easy "plug & play" installation of the autopilot drive system. Only the plus and minus have to be connected and the drive unit, servo box and control panel are all plugged in. There is no need for a separate fluxgate compass and separate rudder feedback unit like other systems use. |

| Easy control: |
| The illustration at the right shows the easy user interface of the Jefa autopilot. The autopilot is switched on by pressing the the I/O button. This will cause the autopilot to power the clutch line which will engage the autopilot drive and the wheel can be let go. The autopilot will now keep the ship on course. 3° adjustments can be done with the < and > buttons. Pushing the << and >> buttons will result in a 10° course change. Pushing the X button will result in a 100° tack course change. The SET button will bring the pilot in the setup mode. Settings like rudder damping, rudder gain and dead band adjustment can be set here. This is all clearly explained in the user manual. |
